Guide Charters and Cruises, Macduff
Operating out of Macduff Harbour, one of the few working fishing harbours in the north east of Scotland, Guide Charters & Cruises offers the opportunity to create a tailor-made boat trip to suit where you want to go, what you would like to see and how long the trip should last.
The sightseeing, wildlife and birdwatching tours span the coastline from Cullen in the west to Pennan in the east; the coastline has everything from 13th century ruined castles at Findlater to the site of a promontory hill fort near Pennan, as well as the historic harbours of Banff, Portsoy and Whitehills, and the traditional fishing villages of Sandend, Gardenstown, Crovie and Pennan.
There is an abundance of birdlife to be seen - including guillemots, razorbills, fulmars, shags and puffins - as well as the RSPB Reserve at Troup Head, Scotland's only mainland gannet colony.
At sea you will see bottlenose dolphins, porpoises, grey and common seals, and summer visitors including minke whales. The Guide has a new underwater microphone to listen to the underwater world of dolphins, whales and porpoises.
The Guide also offers relaxing sea angling trips - 7 days a week - morning, afternoon or evenings - weather permitting. Good quality rods and tackle can be hired onboard.
The Guide is a 55 ft wooden build, is on the Historic Ship Register and has a licence for 40 persons (from April to October) and up to 12 persons (during the winter months). The boat is fully insured, equipped and certified to meet the safety requirements of the MCA (Maritime and Coastugard Agency). Lifejackets are provided, but do bring warm clothing and footwear!
