Cullen Sea School

The Three Harbours Association (3HA) is a registered charity established in 2010 with representatives from the communities of Cullen, Portknockie and Findochty.  Cullen Sea School is our first enterprise: a community-led watersports hub for locals and visitors alike. Welcome!

We now offer a great range of activities, including boat-building, coastal rowing, kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing.  Our core volunteers have up-to-date First Aid qualifications, RYA Safety Boat Licenses and our launch masters have years of on-hand experience with the water and weather conditions at Cullen Bay.

We also have fully up-to-date changing, shower and toilet facilities, as well as a nice kitchen area for that well-deserved cuppa afterwards.  Come, join in!

Paddle Sports (kayaking and stand-up paddle boards)

Alice, our paddle-sports instructor, has devised a series of fun sessions in line with the British Canoeing ‘Start’ and 1* Syllabus to ensure that we all learn sound, basic skills and make our progress within a safe environment.  Please go to http://cullenseaschool.co.uk/kayaking/ for more details and this year’s schedule – non-members welcome too!

Activities for Children

Are you looking for something that little bit different to do with your children over the Summer Holidays?  Sign up for our Splash and Play Sessions, designed for water-confident children under 12, accompanied by a parent, guardian or carer in the water.  Places limited to 6 children per session. Please go to http://cullenseaschool.co.uk/activities-for-children/ for more details and this year’s schedule – non-members welcome too!

Coastal Rowing

The Cullen Sea School Rowers are a relatively new group, set up in November 2016, with active members ranging from under 16 to over 70.  Interested in both the fun side of life – by welcoming new rowers and showing them the basics, and the more competitive side – by entering into national regattas, there is really something here for everyone.  The rowers also hold regular social events where a dram, a dish and some good music is order of the day.

Please go to http://cullenseaschool.co.uk/rowing/ for more details and our rowing schedule.

Small Boat Building

Our boat building projects are headed by Bert Wilson, Willie Henderson and John Wilson, a fantastic group of retired shipwrights who help us build, repair and maintain our rowing and sailing equipment.  Volunteers meet on Tuesday at 9am and 6.30pm, at 9am on Saturdays and are currently working on Phoenix (a Family 14) and an all-new Mirror Dinghy.

Pupils from Buckie High School are in weekly attendance, as part of our SQA-accredited boat-building and woodwork course.  Our aim is to pass on the skills and heritage of the boat-building legacy of this area to the younger generation.

We look forward to welcoming you at Cullen Sea School.  Please contact mhairi@cullenseaschool.co.uk with any questions.
