Turra Coo Statue branded a design icon
One of Banffshire's most famous landmarks - The Turra Coo - has been recognised as a design icon at Aberdeenshire Council's Design Awards ceremony at Haddo House.
The popular bronze statue, which was commissioned to commemorate the resilience of the people of the North-east of Scotland, is a life-size bronze sculpture of one of the region's most famous animals.
The Turra Coo statue was officially unveiled by First Minister Alex Salmond in November 2010; this was the culmination of a five-year project steered by the Turriff Tourism Action Group to raise the funds needed to make and erect the statue. The statue has since become synonymous with the bustling farming town of Turriff and a popular draw for tourists.
