Celebrity to open River Deveron fishing season

Scotland's top angling celebrity, former "Hooked on Scotland" TV host Paul Young, will open the new River Deveron fishing season next month.

The Scottish actor will bless the river with a dram of Glen Deveron at the Turriff AA Lodge, Turriff Bridge, at 10.00 on Monday 11th February.  He will also present the Morison Trophy to last year's winner Craig Wyness, who will make the first cast as his reward for catching the biggest fish landed on the river in 2011.

The River Deveron District Salmon Fishery Board is asking anglers to return all salmon caught between the opening day of the season and 31st May to the water to help conserve spring stocks and release all sea trout caught over the course of the season.
