Banffshire Farmers Creating Special Toast of the County

Banffshire farmers are to toast their union's centenary in momentous style - by collecting malt whisky from 28 of the county's distilleries to create The Banffshire Centenary Blended Malt - a unique commemorative blend.

Local NFU branch members will take to the road to underline the close links between the two main industries.  Members of the NFU's Banffshire branch, armed with an empty cask, will start touring the distilleries, including Glenglassaugh and Macduff.  Thanks are due to all the distillers who are donating the whisky; in some cases, the distillers are including malts that they do not normally release for blending, ensuring that this cask will represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for whisky aficionados.

A first release of what will be called The Banffshire Centenary Blended Malt is expected around February 2014, and the proceeds from sales will go to the NFU's Centenary Fund.
