Coastal rowing taking off with launch of 2nd boat in Portsoy

Coastal rowing in Portsoy has really taken off - since the beginning of the original St Ayles Skiff community project in April 2012.

With a registered membership of more than 35 men and women aged between 20 and more than 60, Portsoy Coastal Rowing Club's rowers and boatbuilders have made remarkable progress - with the growth in enthuiasm for rowing requiring a second boat to provide competition and training.

The Soy Quine was launched in March 2013, and the Skifettes took part in competitive rowing for the first time at the 2013 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, followed closely by the first World Coastal Rowing Championships in Ullapool where they reached the finals in two events at their first attempt.  Since then, the Soy Quine has been taken to Banff, Cullen and Burghead to demonstrate the club's activities.

The Soy Loon was launched on Sunday 13th October.
