Boat-builders ready to roll
Portsoy's community boat-building project enthusiasts have started 2014 with their sleeves rolled up ready to start work in earnest on the re-creation of a traditional wooden salmon coble.
And the Portsoy Organisation for Restoration and Training (PORT) Coble Building Group has extended an invitation to anybody interested in the project to join them.
The group will be hosting an open information session at the Salmon Bothy in Portsoy on Thursday 23rd January at 7.30 p.m.
Anyone who comes along will be brought up to speed on what's been going on to date, and they'll get the lowdown on the next steps in a unique project. The amazing photographic record of the story of the "Tern" - a beached salmon coble which has been dismantled to provide the group with valuable information - will be on display. A selection of the film clips of the coble project will also be shown.
The group is very keen to hear from anybody interested in any aspect of boat building. Anyone who wants to get involved in the project or just wants to drop in at the workshop on any Monday, Wednesday or Friday will be made very welcome.
And as the year progresses, there will be many more opportunities to get involved in an exciting and innovative project.
