Guide shines a light on our secret stills
Three local distilleries feature in a new guide - "The Secret Malts of Aberdeenshire" - which highlights the North-east's hidden distillery treasures.
Macduff Distillery, Portsoy's Glenglassaugh Distillery and the Glendronach Distillery near Aberchirder are among the new Aberdeenshire guide's "active and lost" whisky producing facilities.
"The Secret Malts of Aberdeenshire" provides a wonderful insight into the whisky heritage of our region. Of the 8 working distilleries featured in the guide, most are relatively small in scale, but each has its own distinctive history, style and taste. 4 have small visitor centres and shops, offering regular tours led by guides; while 3 of the featured distilleries are not officially open to the public, informal tours can be organised.
Copies of the guide are now widely available free at each of the featured distilleries, at local visitor information centres, with details also available online at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk.
