Memorial Dedication for World War 1
The centenary of the outbreak of World War 1 was marked in a service on 4th August with the dedication of a memorial at Duff House.
It will honour the more than 1,700 men from the old county of Banffshire who lost their lives in the trenches, at sea and in the air during the conflict.
A memorial stone and a copse of specially-planted trees was unveiled by Clare Russell, Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire, who spearheaded the project. This memorial will provide a permanent marker of the outbreak of World War 1 and the sacrifice of so many men.
