Pirates set to invade fun day at Macduff Marine Aquarium
Staff at a popular north-east aquarium are preparing to be taken over by pirates as World Oceans Day approaches.
Macduff Marine Aquarium is one of the region's top tourist attractions, and to mark the international awareness day on Sunday 7th June, it is hosting a pirate day.
The mischievous crew will be spending the day at Macduff Marine Aquarium, canvassing visitors and drumming up support and awareness of the natural marine environment. World Oceans Day is an opportunity to get out and enjoy the marine environment, whether you have a walk on the beach, take a boat trip, or come and find out more at the aquarium. You'll be surprised how exciting the sea can be.
The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society will be joined by Aberdeenshire Ranger Service to take visitors on a tour of the beach and keep an eye out for passing marine mammals.
Inside, young visitors can join in a whole host of games and art activities, as well as a treasure hunt through the aquarium.
Zoos and aquariums around the world take part in World Oceans Day each year using it as an opportunity to focus on raising awareness of the marine ecosystem and promoting further education amongst members of the public.
