Locals flock to casting call for film extras
Scores of people have turned out for auditions in Portsoy for the remake of the classic comedy "Whisky Galore".
A modern-day version of the iconic 1949 fim will start shooting in Portsoy on 26th July. The cast and crew will be there for three weeks, and a large number of extras are needed.
The film tells the story of how Scottish islanders removed the whisky cargo from a ship which ran aground. The SS Politican sank off the Scottish island of Eriskay in 1941, and 8 years later, the film "Whisky Galore" told the story of how the locals took the whisky and hid it from the excise men.
Following on from the filming of Stonemouth, it is another boost for the Banffshire Coast area.
