Launch of 2016-17 Scotland's Castle Trail
The 2016-17 Scotland's Castle Trail guide was launched today at Kinnaird Head Castle and Lighthouse in Fraserburgh. For the first time in the trails history, Kinnaird Head Castle which forms part of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses has been included.
Kinnaird Head Castle was built in the 16th Century for the Fraser family. This fine 16th century castle was altered in 1787 to take the first lighthouse built by the Commissioners of the Northern Lighthouses.
Scotland's Castle Trail lets you discover 19 of Aberdeenshire's most famous and dramatic castles. Get inspiration from the suggested itinerary or simply create your own bespoke tour using the printed leaflet, pdf download or simply follow the distinctive brown and white Castle Trail road signs through the heart of Aberdeenshire.
